The Great Central Main Line : Rushcliffe Halt Station

Rushcliffe Halt was built in 1911 to serve the Gypsum works and north end of East Leake. It was constructed with two platforms instead of GC style island due to lack of room and had only basic waiting shelters.

The station closed with many others along the route in 1963 and has been left since (although the shelters, fencing and lighting have gone).

We intend to open this station soon and during the coming months much work will be done to bring it up to standard. EWS and British Gypsum are now using the up line to carry freight on to the national rail network so any rail operations we do must be separated from these workings.

The first passenger train to arrive at Rushcliffe Halt since the 60's- hauled by an EWS Class 66

Rushcliffe Halt in the summer of 2001- temporaily reopened and given new station signs

The same day- 48305 is about to head back towards Ruddington

48305 approaches Rushcliffe Halt from the south direction
A plan of what we intend to do at Rushcliffe Halt - anyone got a spare foot bridge??
